German conservatives surge in EU elections

Macron's party loses ground in France

Exit polls had begun to roll in at the end of European elections across the EU's 27 countries.

Macron's Renaissance party scored only 152 percent in the EU election one point ahead of the socialists led by Raphaƫl Glucksmann.

WEB Germanys opposition conservatives were always going to come out on top and they scored an impressive 30 of the vote.

WEB Macrons Renaissance party currently has 169 lower house lawmakers out of a total of 577.

Conclusion

The results of the European elections are a setback for Macron and his Renaissance party. The party lost ground in France and failed to make significant gains in other EU countries. The results also show that the rise of populism and nationalism is continuing to make an impact on European politics.
